The Cameroonian Community of Greater Manchester (CCGM) stands as a pillar of unity, solidarity, and mutual support for Cameroonians living in Greater Manchester. Becoming a member of CCGM is more than just joining a community—it’s becoming part of a family committed to cultural preservation, social connection, and collective growth.
Who Can Become a Member
Membership is open to all Cameroonians and their families living in Greater Manchester. A one-time registration fee of ÂŁ25 non-refundable membership for a single person and automatically covers all children under the age of 18.
For families with children above 18, young adults are encouraged to register as individual members but they enjoy free membership until their 20th birthday. This policy ensures that young people remain connected to their roots while transitioning into adulthood.
Commitment and Participation
Being a member of CCGM means playing an active role in community life. Members are encouraged to stay up to date with all financial contributions and obligations agreed upon within the organisation. This shared commitment ensures the sustainability of CCGM’s activities and services for all.
Members who fall behind on their financial obligations may have their membership temporarily deactivated, losing access to member benefits. To reinstate membership, all outstanding dues must be cleared along with a 60% interest charge—a policy designed to promote fairness and responsibility.
Rights and Opportunities
Active members enjoy several important rights and privileges:
- Voting Rights: Members have the right to vote in all CCGM elections and decision-making processes.
- Access to Opportunities: Members are the first to learn about CCGM investment and development opportunities.
- Community Voice: Every member has a say in shaping the future of the organisation and its initiatives.
Standing Together in Times of Need
A core value of CCGM is solidarity during difficult times. When a member or their immediate family (spouse or biological child) passes away in Greater Manchester, the organisation mobilises support through a community fundraising campaign. All funds raised are handed directly to the bereaved family to assist with funeral costs and emotional support.
If a visiting relative passes away while in Manchester, CCGM extends compassion through a voluntary fundraising initiative, reinforcing the spirit of "one family, one community."
For deaths that occur outside Manchester such as in Cameroon or elsewhere CCGM’s Communication Department shares official announcements and encourages community members to show support in any way they can.
